Commuters can find reprieve from a 12-mile detour in Dutchess County, well at least for a few more days.

They say the third times is the charm but I have to admit I'm starting to lose my patience with the scheduled Route 199 bridge replacement in Milan. Of course, I have no hard feelings against my friend Flashy the Sign, who has been the only one keeping me posted on the delays.

Last month, the State Department of Transportation announced plans to replace the bridge which crosses the Sawkill Creek on Route 199 between Rock City Road and the junction for Route 308. The original start date of the project was April 7, then pushed to April 25, then April 27 and now it seems they have their sights on the April 29.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not looking forward to an annoyingly long detour on a daily basis. However, I do not like have to take said detour when I don't have to! This is the third time I have adjusted my route according to their closure schedule and found that in fact.... nope... no closed bridge.  Meaning Sarah could get where she's going sooner and could have gotten home faster (and yes I just referred to myself in the third person).

So, will the third time be the charm? We will have to wait and see. No worries, Flashy and I will keep the commuters of Dutchess County informed!
