Looks like super star drumming machine Tommy Lee can add the Smashing Pumpkins to his resume. The Motley Crue drummer was recruited to play with the Pumpkins on their new album ‘Monuments to an Elegy’. The exciting announcement came a few days ago via the bands official webpage along with a picture of Billy Corgan and Tommy Lee…the picture had the following caption from Corgan.

This is the third drummer to grace the Pumpkins in the last few years. Back in 2009 long time drummer Jimmy Chamberlinin left the band leaving 19-year old Mike Byrne to take the lead on the kit. Not sure why he wasn't the right fit for the band but I'm sure Lee will be a welcomed asset. Lee will play for all 9 tracks on the album but will most likely not join the band for a tour as Motley Crue is set to kick off a two-year ‘Final Tour’ this summer. No release date as of now for the new album but I'm sure we'll have all the new tune right here on WRRV, until then enjoy a little "Old School" Pumpkins!
