The identity of the man who was allegedly poisoned to death by an Ulster County woman has been released.

On Saturday the Shandaken Police Department received a call from Solane H. Verraine, 62, of Phoenicia who told authorities that there had been a death inside the home.

Once on the scene, officers thought the death seemed suspicious, and requested the assistance of the Ulster County Detectives.

Verraine was taken into the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center for questioning, where she told authorities she poisoned the victim with a combination of alcoholic beverages and prescription drugs, police say.

The victim has been identified as 62 year-old John W. Owings Jr.

Verraine was charged with second-degree Murder, a felony. She was arraigned and remanded to Ulster County Jail with bail.
