The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office has put out a warning to Hudson Valley residents about the latest scam going on in the area.

It seems like there are scams everywhere these days and you really need to protect yourself. Everyone is vulnerable and whenever you get a phone call/text/e-mail or mail you need to a moment to make sure it makes sense and it's not just from a scammer trying to get something from you.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about another scam.

What's the latest scam residents in the Hudson Valley are being warned about?

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, scammers are asking victims to participate in a survey that's allegedly from the United States Postal Service. The scammers allegedly mail an official-looking letter to the victims and they can help make the postal service better by completing this.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office pointed out that this letter does look very official.

According to the DCSO, "The letter goes on to say that in order to do this they will need to cash a bank check that comes with the letter, then proceeds to give them step-by-step instructions on what to do with the money."

Thankfully someone who received this knew it did not sound right and contacted authorities.
