The Hudson Valley seems to be in the middle of another renaissance. While the last few years saw Beacon exploding many unique businesses (like a custom marshmallow store), it seems like Newburgh might be the next city to undergo a transformation.
New Businesses Opening in Newburgh
While it's still tough for small businesses to open (and stay open), a few brave entrepreneurs are putting in the work to help develop what used to be a massive tourist destination.

The new projects coming to Newburgh can be broken into two categories: those that involve renovating physical spaces (like the beloved Betty's Snack Bar, above), and "mobile" business owners that operate within those spaces (like the Sunday drag bingo at Betty's).
Cheese Church Launches in Newburgh, NY
Cheese Church it in the latter category, as it is hosted in another new Newburgh business, 190 Bar. Here's what you need to know about the "church" that worships dairy:

Cheese Church is a monthly event hosted at 190 Bar by Sarah, a cheese monger and food lover behind the Instagram account laowai.eats. The third Sunday of the month sees cheese devotees crowding the pews to learn what she has to offer.
What Is Cheese Church?
Cheese Church shares both the techniques that go into making one of our most favorite foods as well as samples to enjoy throughout the night. Past themes have included Easter, women in cheese, and black-owned businesses.
