Nothing says winter like building a snowman. Recently, some very ambitious New Yorkers took the idea to a whole different level.

I try to sculpt a snowman after every snowfall in the Hudson Valley. So far this season, however, the lack of precipitation meant that they've been pretty pathetic (below). Nothing compared to the absolute behemoth that was recently constructed upstate.

Snowfall in New York State Leads to Massive Snowman Project

While the Hudson Valley hasn't seen much snow, the same isn't true further north. One local business decided to make the best out of the situation with a ten-day project that was finally completed over the weekend.

23-Foot Snowman Built in Potsdam, NY

"He’s done!!" began a recent post from St. Lawrence Nurseries in Potsdam, NY (below). The business, which specialized in cold-hardy plants, also seems to have a knack for mammoth snowmen.

How to Visit Potsdam's 23-Foot Tall Snowman

Curious New Yorkers are invited to stop by the business, located at 6527 NY-56 in Potsdam, NY, for photo opportunities. The nursery shared that one of the reasons behind the project was to return to a former Potsdam tradition.

"Decades ago, the streets of Potsdam used to be full of snow and ice sculptures during the winter", the nursery wrote. "We are bringing that energy back to the roadside of Rt. 56".
