Town of Wallkill Police Respond To Domestic Dispute

In an official press release from the Town of Wallkill Police Department, an arrest was reported following officers responding to a 'Domestic Dispute' at 46 Imperial Park Drive in Wallkill on Tuesday, January 13th around 2:30am.

Upon arrival, the following information was reported:

Officers discovered that during the dispute, one of the involved parties discharged one round from a rifle. There were no reported injuries resulting from the discharge. A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of several firearms and a spent shell casing.

Wallkill Man, A New York State Correction Officer, Arrested

Police report that the subject was identified as 34-year-old Chrstopher Mendez, of the Town of Wallkill. Mendez was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment, First Degree.

It was also reported that the defendant is a New York State Correction Officer, but the press release did not specify the specific location of where Mendez was employed.

Police records indicate that Mendez was arraigned and released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to appear before Judge Patrick Owen in the Town of Wallkill Court on February 10th.
