Wappingers Stewart’s Shop Closing

The Stewarts Shop is closing due to, "inability to accommodate space needs."

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the popular Stewarts Shop location at 2048 Route 9D in Wappingers Falls will close its doors on Sunday November 8th.

A press release states that the reason for the closure is not specifically related to COVID-19, but due the fact that the store doesn't have the space moving forward to accommodate food to go services. The store also doesn’t offer gasoline, unlike many other locations in the area.

This Stewart's is one of two of the stores that Stewart's operates in Dutchess County that doesn't offer gasoline for customers to purchase. The other location is located on route 9G in the Hyde Park area.

Stewart's is a popular place for many families in the Hudson Valley during the warmer months to grab some of the best ice cream around. They feature flavors that range from vanilla and chocolate to some special flavors like, brownie fudge with M&M's and the "pop rock" candy flavor "Fireworks". They also make specialty shakes and more.

They also feature a "milk card" at most locations that customers that use the card can accumulate "punches" in the card to receive money off, or in some cases free milk in the future.

Stewart's does have 13 other locations throughout the Hudson Valley with the closest one to the closing store, located on Route 82 in Hopewell Junction.

No plans have yet to be released as to what will happen with the site of the store after the closing. We will update this story if any plans are made public.
