Emergency Rescue for New York Angler After Serious Fall
Fishing season is in full swing in New York, and while the activity is generally viewed as a relaxing way to unwind, one visiting angler had an eventful day in one of the worst ways imaginable.
Organizations like the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation work hard to not only ensure healthy fish populations and fishing compliance in New York State, but the safety of everyone who enjoys nearly any outdoor activity.
NYS DEC Ranger Rescues
While NYS DEC rescues are more closely associated with lost or stranded hikers, a visiting fisherman recently needed an emergency rescue during a trip to the Ausable River. As the DEC explained, a peaceful day quickly turned into chaos.
Fishing Accident on Ausable River Leads to Ranger Rescue
"On June 6, Essex County 911 contacted Ray Brook Dispatch about an angler who had fallen approximately 20 feet down an embankment into the Ausable River at the base of Whiteface Mountain", they reported (below). A rescue plan was quickly organized.
Inflatable Kayak Used to Rescue Injured Angler
NYS DEC Forest Rangers are constantly sharpening their skills for rescues, including those in the water. In the case of the injured angler, who had broken their leg in the fall, an inflatable kayak was used to transport the subject to a waiting ambulance.

From forest rangers to firefighters, New York first responders work tirelessly to keep residents - both human or otherwise - safe from danger. Check out some unique and impressive rescues below.
