I personally love receiving gift cards for any occasion. They are the best option when gift giving and typically can be used in store and online. You can make it personal by choosing the receiver’s favorite store. What have you done with a gift card that you received but didn’t want? Here are some helpful tips on what to do with any gift card that you don’t plan on using.

  • Re-gift a loaded gift card

Re-gifting presents is a good idea when you don’t have enough money in your budget to purchase a gift. You’ll be saving money on buying a gift. You can give this gift card to someone who you think would use it. You can also add a little present to go along with the gift card as well.

  • Donate an unused gift card

If there’s a gift card that you don’t see yourself using, donate it to a local charity, animal shelter or to someone in need. If you don’t have time to volunteer and or money to give away, this can replace that. Tis' the season of giving, lets continue to spread holiday cheer even after Christmas.

  • Sell an unwanted gift card

I have sold a gift card I knew that I wouldn't use to family members and friends before. Sometimes, I even give ask for less money than is actually on the gift card if I believe that I won’t use it.

  • Buy presents with gift card

If you received a gift card that you believe that you won’t use, figure out of who you can buy presents for with that card. You can think ahead to future birthdays, anniversaries, weddings or any other celebration. Once you come up with other ways to use an unwanted gift card, it’ll come easier of who would benefit from a present on the card.
