Spring officially begins on Sunday, March 20, but there's no reason to stay in your house until then. There's plenty to do throughout the Hudson Valley this weekend and here's just a few ideas.

 

Saturday, March 5, 10-12: Family Barn Dance and Sing-A-Long with Miss Emily for kids at Stony Kill Farm Environmental Center, 79 Farmstead Lane in Wappingers Falls. You can tour the barn and see sheep, cows, pigs and chickens. Then enjoy a sing-a-long and barn dance lead by Miss Emily and end the morning with a farm-friendly craft. Admission is $5 for family of 5 and $5 for each additional child.

Saturday, March 5, 2-4: Enjoy a wine tasting with Creative Uncorked at Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner. Enjoy some wine while you create your own masterpiece. Cost is $35 per person.

Saturday, March 5, 9-3: Sullivan Renaissance Annual Conference. This conference is all about building beautiful, healthy and active communities. This is designed to inspire participants to continue the hard work of making Sullivan County look and feel its best. Saturday, March 5, all day: Enjoy Maple Sugar tours at the Outdoor Discovery Center at Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. You'll learn how to identify and tap sugar maple trees, discover sugaring techniques used by Native Americans, pioneers and modern-day farmers, see an evaporator in action, and finish by participating in a taste test challenge to see if you can tell the difference between maple-flavored syrup and the real thing. There is a one mile hike for the Sugarbush Tour and a shorter walk with the  Maple Lane Tour. Click here for more information.
