There is a growing chance the Hudson Valley will see widespread power outages this weekend.

Friday morning, Hudson Valley Weather warned residents in the region about a widespread and significant wind event that should impact most of the local area Sunday night into Monday.

Forecast data shows winds of 40 to 60 miles per hour, with some parts of the region seeing stronger gusts of wind, according to Hudson Valley Weather.

"We are closely monitoring the likelihood of a widespread and significant wind event that is likely to impact the majority of our region Sunday PM into Monday. Damaging wind gusts and widespread power outages are possible as data is indicating winds of 40-60 mph with even higher gusts possible across the higher terrain," Hudson Valley Weather wrote on Facebook.

As of this writing, the National Weather Service has yet to issue a Wind Advisory for the region, but Hudson Valley Weather notes on its website one will likely be released soon.
