Another amazing Sessions concert went down at Newburgh Brewing Company on Monday, July 11th with Wilderado.  It was a packed house to see Max of Wilderado perform an acoustic set, but before he took the stage, he took the time to sit down with me (hi, I'm Jonah) on-air to talk about the decision to leave LA, what it's like to juggle personal and professional life, and the importance of home. Keep scrolling to see shots of the amazing performance.

Wilderado in Newburgh, NY

After living in LA, Max shared that he made the decision to leave the epicenter of the entertainment industry to move back to his hometown in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In what may seem like a counterintuitive move for some, Max said that the cost of living and ease of travel were just icing on the cake of the main reason his heart was calling him home: his family.

From the stage, Max noticed one-year-old and four-year-old girls sitting in the front row. "You remind me of my little girls about the same age", he commented, "and you look like rascals, just like them", he continued with a smile. With heartfelt comments like that throughout the night, it was easy to tell why the band has such grounded and genuine vibes.

Max also paused the show several times to take questions from the audience. When asked if any song had changed his life, the first answer that came to mind was God of Wine, by Third Eye Blind, relaying how it inspired his direction for songwriting ever since he first heard it in high school.

He closed the show with Wilderado's chart-topping single, Head Right, and finished with their newest release, the poignant Surefire. It was a great night at Newburgh Brewing Company for WRRV Sessions thanks to Healy Brothers, Devitts Nursery and Supply, and Ballentine Communications.
