Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, the Hudson Valleys' largest shopping and tourist destination, has announced plans for expansion which include room for more stores, two hotels, additional parking, and a helipad.

The Times Herald-Record reports the expansion would be the sixth the malls 33-year history having opened to shoppers from around the world in 1985. There are currently 250 stores that draw more than 13 million people a year. The planned 140,000 square feet of retail space that would be added would push the Woodbury Common Outlets to more than one million square feet of total store space.

More than 2,000 parking spaces would be added via the construction of a five-story parking garage to go along with a major expansion of the existing four-story garage.

Owners Simon Property Group hopes to start construction in 2020 and have the project completed by the end of 2023. The most recent project which was undertaken in 2011 took several years to complete at a cost of $120 million according to the Times Herald-Record.
