Halloween is truly the great unifier. Young or old, creative or lazy, partier or homebody, nearly everyone has fun on the wildest night of the year.

Halloween proper is on a weekday this year (and next year, and the year after that... ) but that just means there's more days for partying. While the kids will go out to trick-or-treat tonight, the adults already had their fun this past weekend at WRRV's Boo Ball at the MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. The costumes did not disappoint.

WRRV Boo Ball at the MJN Convention Center in Poughkeepsie, NY

It's been several years since the Hudson Valley partied at WRRV's Boo Ball. To mark its triumphant return, there was live music from Probable Cause and The Hype, tarot card readings, and of course the legendary $1,000 costume contest.

Some of the most impressive costumes were entirely homemade, like the hilariously-oversized "French maid" Minion and the body painted God of War (above). Even the bands were in costume, with Probable Cause dressing like Batman villains and The Hype transforming into the members of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

One of the highlights of the night was when The Hype invited the scariest costumes to join them onstage for Thriller. The Purple People Eaters, Beetlejuice, Michael Myers and more all joined the Turtles for an epic performance (below).
