The holiday season is a time of joy, family, and the spirit of giving. However, not everyone has the means to provide a festive celebration for their loved ones. This is where the WRRV’s Shop With A Cop program steps in to make a difference, and you can be a part of this wonderful initiative.

What is Shop With A Cop?

WRRV’s Shop With A Cop is a heartwarming program that teams up with Hudson Valley law enforcement officers to help local children and families during the holiday season. The program raises funds to surprise selected children with a shopping spree at the Poughkeepsie Galleria just before Christmas. Each selected family is paired up with an officer from various Hudson Valley Police Departments such as Town of Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park, Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County Sheriff, City of Beacon, New York State Troopers, Dutchess County Corrections, Town of East Fishkill, and many other amazing police departments.

For the past six years, Shop With A Cop has been on a mission to offer a unique experience for children to enjoy a Christmas shopping spree, accompanied by a local police officer, with a significant gift card to use at any store in the mall.

Last Year’s Impact

Last year, the program helped over 40 families right here in the Hudson Valley have a holiday to remember, alongside local heroes. The joy and smiles brought to these children’s faces are priceless, and the memories created are everlasting.

How Can You Help?

This year, WRRV aims to make Shop With A Cop even bigger, and they need your support. There are several ways you can contribute to this cause:

• Monetary Donations: You can mail or drop off monetary donations at the station located at 2 Pendell Rd, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. Please make all checks payable to The Town of Poughkeepsie PBA.

All donations are used exclusively for families here in the Hudson Valley and the funds are managed by the Town of Poughkeepsie PBA.

If you know a family that may be having a tough time this holiday season, you can anonymously submit their information for consideration. Selected families will be notified by mid-December.
