Death Cab For Cutie Play Last Show Death Cab for Cutie has done it. They have publicly said goodbye to co-founder Chris Walla over the weekend.  They headlined their last show together at the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, British Columbia Saturday night, and lead singer Ben Gibbard gave a special introduction to their final song.

After Gibbard thanked the multi-instrumentalist and producer for his nearly two decades with the group, Walla's keyboards opened Death Cab's 2005 track "Marching Bands of Manhattan."  When the song was over, an emotional Walla managed to eke out the word "thanks" into his microphone before he joined the rest of the band for a group hug in the middle of the stage.  Walla announced that he was leaving the band last month.  He said he was "really, really sad" about leaving his bandmates, but explained that he "longs for the unknown."  Fans will have one last chance to hear the quartet together on their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album.  Death Cab for Cutie's eighth record is expected out early next year.
