Just Surrender Releases New Music Ahead of Sold-Out Chance Concert
Hudson Valley rockers Just Surrender are headlining one of the last shows at The Chance Theater before it closes. Fans are excited for Just Surrender's return: within a week of tickets going live, the show sold-out, setting this show up to be a major blow-out sendoff for the beloved Poughkeepsie venue. I got the opportunity to sit down with a few of the members of the band ahead of their show on October 13th.
Just Surrender Headlines The Chance on October 13th
Just Surrender hails from Dover Plains, New York. The band was formed by three high school friends Jay Maffucci, Andy Meunier and Steven Miller in 2003. The band has seen several members come and go, but the current members of the band include:
- Jason "Jay" Maffucci – vocals (2003–2013, 2017–present), bass (2003–2007)
- Edward-Daniel "Dan" Simons Jr. – vocals, rhythm guitar (2003–2013, 2017–present)
- Steve Miller – drums, percussion (2003–2013, 2017–present)
- Jolly Ubriaco – lead guitar, backing vocals (2008–2010, 2011–2013, 2017-present)
- Ryan Kienle – bass (2011–2013, 2017–present)
- Josh Grigsby – drums, percussion (2017–present)
The band amassed quite the following while touring alongside the likes of All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Bowling for Soup, We the Kings and more. The band remained active over a ten year span from 2003 to 2013, before announcing their hiatus. Since 2017; however, after a little regrouping, the band has continued doing some live shows and had been writing together. Bring us now to 2023, and the future looks bright for Just Surrender.
The band announced on social media that they will be releasing two new songs ahead of the performance at The Chance. The new songs, "Choices" and "Find You Out Again" will release Friday, September 29th, giving fans 2 weeks to learn all the lyrics before they scream their little emo hearts out in Poughkeepsie.
