The last time that we caught up with Micah Juman, he released his debut single "Rollercoaster." He has been busy since then recording and releasing other singles his R&B inspired "Rocketship" and rock inspired single "L.Y.G." Juman's latest track brings us back to the 90s and early 2000s with some great pop punk/pop rock vibes with "Tell You."

As I mentioned before, he is also an accomplished actor. He has recently been in 2 feature films and 2 short films in lead and supporting roles. The first of which he stars in is "Summer of the Wolf," which is about a boy going through changes as he runs away from a mysterious enemy. The second of which is "My Miracle Boy" about an extremely sheltered kid who learns there's more to the world than what he was told. You can also spot him in national commercials for products such as "Cirkul."

Micah Juman's "Tell You" Harkens Back to Golden Age of Pop Punk

Juman said that "Tell You" has been a project he has been working on for a little under a year. He played everything himself, except for the drums. Juman wrote the song as a letter to everyone who hides their true feelings behind closed doors and the struggle that comes from trying to hold back the truth from coming out.

Our WRRV listeners will hear some familiar influences within this track. The sound and production was inspired by artists such as Yellowcard, All Time Low, and Green Day. I picked up on the Yellowcard-vibes right away, and I also told him I got tinges of Gin Blossoms and Sister Hazel from this.

One thing that I really liked about this song was it's use of harmonies. I remember listening to it for the first time, and hearing the first chorus thinking, "This would sound great with some extra harmonies." Unbeknownst to me, Juman already had that covered, building upon the harmonies as he progressed through the song. That progression was very purposeful. He said,

[Tell You] is meant to carry a very upbeat energy as if your mind is constantly racing with what you want to say. And harmonies slowly stack on as if your getting closer to letting it all out, until the very end where it's stacked with vocals- the part where you finally share everything because the dam finally burst!

The imagery of the dam bursting at the end accurately represents the feeling of listening to that climactic chorus. But even before then, I particularly love the lyrics in the pre-chorus and how Juman presents it, "I tried so hard to forget you, but your name's still on my brain / And everybody's in love with you when it drives me insane / Got nothing special to offer you so I'll stay in my lane /Won't see me at your front door with a flower in the rain."
