The Town of Hyde Park Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in finding a pet that went missing after a major fire.

On Wednesday officials responded to the Arbors Apartments off of Route 9 in Hyde Park for a report of a structure fire. The blaze unfortunately destroyed several homes and now to make things worse some residents are find their pets are missing.

That's why the Hyde Park Police Department needs your help. Please keep an eye for Basil. This little sweet guy ran from the apartment when the fire started and hasn't been seen since. According to the post on the department's facebook page Basil is a friendly kitty but may be a little scared, understandably so! He is microchipped, if found the chip can be read at vets offices or the SPCA. The chip may read 'Waldo' as it was his name before he was adopted.

If found you can take Basil to the SPCA or call police at (845) 229-9340. Please help bring him home safe so his family has one less loss to deal with during this tragic time.
