A Dutchess County woman is in trouble with the law for allegedly burning a child.

Tuesday, New York State Police in Rhinebeck arrested 31-year-old Erica Preciado, of Rhinebeck, for endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Preciado is accused of holding the metal portion of a hot light bulb to the skin of an 11-year-old child. Officials say the boy suffered a 2nd degree burn on his arm.

State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center.
