High speeds played a role in the death of 49-year-old Poughkeepsie man in a motorcycle accident in LaGrange on Saturday night, according to a press release from the New York State Police (NYSP).

The NYSP said their investigation revealed Bobby E. Anderson was traveling at an unsafe speed and had passed several vehicles in a no-passing zone while traveling westbound on Noxon Road. He lost control of his 2011 Honda motorcycle. The bike fell and slid on the roadway with Anderson still on it, driving off the road and striking a tree before coming to a stop in a field next to a utility pole, according to the press release.

Two off-duty Westchester Medical Center nurses were traveling on Noxon Road and stopped at the crash scene to perform CPR on Anderson.

The Poughkeepsie man was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital by a LaGrange Fire Department ambulance. He suffered massive internal injuries in the accident and died at the hospital less than an hour later, police said.
