This food is suddenly getting a ton of attention and becoming pretty popular.

I really thought I'd heard it all before this. I'm a very, very picky eater. Not in a fancy way (a grilled cheese sandwich and a side of french fries is a gourmet meal for me). I've always had to be careful with red meat and chicken so generally I don't eat a ton of it. This means I'm not very adventurous when it comes to trying meats so I've stayed far away from Spam.

For those who don't know, Spam is a brand of processed canned pork and ham made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. It gained popularity during World War II, has stuck around and has recently made a bit of a comeback with groceries being so expensive.

I never thought Spam would go viral like this.

Are dishes made with Spam the latest trend on TikTok?

Recently, I was looking on TikTok and I was shocked at how many dishes were going viral that had Spam in them. Not only were there regular dishes, but there were fancy and dare I say boujee dishes that were all the place.

Some examples were:

    • Spam Burnt Ends: @cookerofdeliciousness 8 cans Spam Mustard BBQ Rub 1 bottle BBQ sauce Juice from can of pineapple 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 Tbsp BBQ Rub Cube spam into 1” pieces. Coat in mustard as binder and cover all sides with your favorite bbq rub. Place on smoker @250° for 2 hrs. While cooking make sauce by combining bbq sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and bbq rub in a small pot and bring to simmer. After 2 hrs place spam in aluminum pan and cover with sauce. Mix well and add butter pats to pan. Continue cooking at 250 uncovered for 60-90 min stirring about every 30 min. You can also do these in oven on a wire rack, just won’t get that smoky flavor. Still delicious! #spam #bbq #bbqtiktok #bbqtok #burntends #easyrecipe #easy ♬ original sound - Matt Ramsey

......and many, many more like Spam Ramen, Spam and Eggs rice bowl, and Spam a la Mexicana.
