So you've been seeing advertisements for "Cold Brew" coffee, but like me wasn't really sure what it was. I was thinking this is just another name for iced coffee, but thought that someone put a spin on the name because they thought it would sell better.

Turns out, there is a difference. Here is what Chris Cross, a coffee roaster in New York City, told USAToday about the difference cold brew versus iced coffee:

"It's coffee that's brewed with room temperature or cold water over a 12 to 24-hour brew time," he said. "It depends on the recipe, it's done to taste. "Because it's made with colder water, it's generally a bit mellower and tastes more rounded out," Cross added. "So there's more of a full body and a little less acidity [than iced coffee.]"

Have you tried cold brew yet? I bought one at Dunkin Donuts, I did notice that it had a fuller, rounder flavor than regular iced coffee. I was surprised to hear that they (cold brews) usually have less caffeine than regular iced coffee, only because when I had it, I could have sworn it was super jacked up on the caffeine. I did get a nice little energy boost. The second time I had it, it did not give me the energy boost, but it was still a tasty experience.

What do you think? Will you change over to drinking cold brew? Or will it be a "When you feel like it" experience?

Local places that carry cold brew include Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and Bank Square Coffeehouse in Beacon. (If you know of others, let us know in the comment section below.)
