Like everyone, I woke up yesterday to the news about the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history, and I was horrified. It's tough to know what you can do to help in a situation that is so bleak and located on the other side of the country.

There's been widespread reports of people in Las Vegas donating blood in record numbers, which is amazing. But there are things you can do even if you're not a Vegas local, and the best thing to do is to support organizations that are able to help the victims directly.

The Red Cross - The Red Cross is on the ground and accepting donations, and every little bit helps.

Las Vegas Victim's Fund : This GoFund Me Page created by Steve Sisolak, Clark County Commission Chair for Las Vegas, has already raised more than 3 million dollars in just one day. All proceeds are providing relief and financial support to the victims.

National Compassion Fund : Likewise, 100% of this organization's donations are also going to the victims and families for their immediate and long-term needs.

Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada: This organization provides mental and physical health care to those who may not have access to it, and its proximity to the shooting means it is swamped and in need of help.

GoFundMe Pages for the Victims : Many of the wounded are in serious condition, and several families have started GoFundMe pages to help pay for their medical bills. This is helping an individual directly, and could make a big difference. Search "Las Vegas" on their site and you'll find a whole list of pages you can donate to.
