Seven people were injured following a high-speed chase on the Thruway and I-84 in the Hudson Valley.

A Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound on the New York State Thruway Thursday morning in Newburgh was flagged by New York State Police as the car of a suspect wanted for questioning in a felony investigation.

Troopers believed the car was associated with the “Felony Lane Gang," a group who reportedly are responsible for numerous larcenies and fraudulent ATM withdrawals associated with identity theft throughout the east coast.

When troopers attempted to stop the vehicle the Taho exited the Thruway at the Newburgh exit and fled onto I-84, continuing onto State Route 52 and eventually traveled east on State Route 17-K where the vehicle was struck a 2012 Mazda.

The Mazda, driven by 62-year-old Mark Newsome of Middletown, was then pushed into the path of a 2016 Honda CRV, traveling eastbound on State Route 17-K, being operated by Cynthia M. Diaz, 59, of New Windsor.

The suspect vehicle then spun around in the westbound lane and struck a 2015 Chevy Tahoe operated by Stacey M. Ackerson, 39, of Walden, head-on, becoming disabled, police say.

Diaz and Ackerson were both transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Newsome was not injured.

The 4 occupants in the suspect vehicle were entrapped as a result of the crash.

The driver, Willie T. Cuyler, 26 of Florida and a passenger, Deonte S. Damon, 24, of Florida, were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Two other passengers, Farrell M. Kam, 25, and Darius D. Henry, 26, both from Florida, were both taken to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending arraignment when medically feasible, police say.
