Who is "Big Bird" and is he really 81? 

For over four decades Carol Spinney has been hiding behind 8 feet 2 inches of bright yellow feathers. This week a Kickstarter campaign to bring the documentary to life, "I Am Big Bird" reaches fruition. Did you ever want to know more about the man behind (or inside) Big Bird or Oscar The Grouch? Here is your chance.

Spinney, in an NPR interview this week, says he has no plans to retire:

"I see no reason to quit," Spinney tells NPR's Scott Simon. "I can't imagine walking away from being Big Bird. I mean, that's an awfully good job, and there's not too many of them. So, I just want to keep doing it until I can't do it anymore."

The documentary is available on itunes, May 6 and in limited theater release starting the same day.
