The Blair Witch Project Cast Reuniting at The Egg in Albany for Rare Live Q&A
The Blair Witch Project: A Cultural Phenomenon
Who could forget the cultural phenomenon known as The Blair Witch Project?
The movie, which came out in the summer of 1999, captivated audiences as 3 film students explored the woods of Burkittsville, Maryland in search of the Blair Witch shooting documentary style along their way..
It was a first of its kind documentary, horror movie that had audiences believing that the 3 students Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams (spoiler alert) were actually missing in the woods and taken by the Blair Witch.
I was about 10 years old when the movie hit theaters, convinced my parents to take me to see it, and cried because I was convinced the Blair Witch was real.
It was that good. And I wasn't alone! Audiences were shocked to find out that the 3 survived. I vividly remember Heather, Josh and Mike showing up at the MTV Movie Awards later on.
I digress.
Now, 26 years later the cast is reuniting for a Q&A in the Capital Region.

The Blair Witch Project Ties to The Hudson Valley
In 1999 when The Blair Witch Project first hit theaters, the internet was still fairly new.
There was no Googling to see if the story was legitimate or where the main characters are from. However, as time went on we learned more and more about our 3 "missing" film students.

Michael C. Williams, we learned, was a graduate from SUNY New Paltz.
In a press release from SUNY New Paltz in September 1999 Williams went back to his alma mater to discuss The Blair Witch Project and answer burning questions about the film.
