A car-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Noxon Road and Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange left one man unconscious with serious head injuries.

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a crash was found by a Deputy on patrol in the Town of LaGrange. The Deputy noticed a car stopped in the roadway and an unconscious man lying on the ground.

The Deputy and a State Trooper began administering first aid until the arrival of the LaGrange Fire Department and other emergency officials. The unconscious male was identified as 39-year-old Matthew Wells, of Poughkeepsie. He was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with serious head injuries. At this time the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

An investigation found that a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by 27-year-old Jessica Orrego, of Poughkeepsie, was on Noxon Road trying to make a left turn onto Route 55 as Wells was crossing Noxon Road on foot. Wells was then struck by the car. Police believe the cause of the accident was Wells not yielding to the vehicle.

At this time police have not filed any charges against Orrego. However police plan to continue to investigate the accident.
