Celebrate 35 Years of Christmas Vacation With Clark in New York

'The little lights aren't twinkling, Clark'...but one thing is for sure, there will be a twinkle in my eye this December when the one and only Clark Griswold himself appears in Albany to celebrate a milestone anniversary of his iconic movie National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

A Griswold Family Affair

In my house, Christmas Vacation was never solely been designated a 'holiday only' movie, we grew up watching it year round. In fact we watched it so much, renting it from the local 'Video Treats' store on Rt. 52 in Fishkill, they actually gave us a copy to keep.

While others may classify us as obsessed, we consider ourselves superfans, the Griswold's of Fishkill if you will.

Each Christmas Eve, the entire family shows up for dinner sporting some sort of Christmas Vacation or Griswold swag in honor of the holiday. Over the years, in addition to my 12 days of Griswold shirts (ok, there's more than 12), i've accumulated the board game pictured below, the most comfortable Clark plush blanket pictured above, limited edition collectable socks, outdoor inflatables, all of the Christmas Vacation ornaments from Hallmark, the Alex and Ani bracelet set, and a variety of wall signs and Funko collectables...just to name a few.

I have passed this tradition on to my daughter, as 'the most enduring traditions of the season are best enjoyed in the warm embrace of kith and kin...' and we always wear our matching Griswold jammies to prepare for Santa's arrival.

Chevy Chase To Celebrate 35th Anniversary of Christmas Vacation

2024 marks the 35th anniversary of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation; a story highlighting the wild and kooky Griswold Family Christmas celebrations in Chicago in the 1980s.

For a number of years, various cast members have appeared for special screenings and Q&A sessions about the movie, and for the 35th Anniversary, Chevy Chase will visit a theatre just north of us here in the Hudson Valley for a screening of the insanely popular film, followed by a live conversation and Q&A. The event is happening on Friday December 27th, and believe it or not, tickets are already on sale here.

Now the only thing left to figure out is which Griswold attire to wear to the screening...
