We all know it as a beautiful area in the Hudson Valley, but it might not be the only one. I haven't spent a ton of time in Columbia County, but the few times I've been up there it was a great experience. There are tons of cute little shops, restaurants, places to walk around, and many ways to have fun there.

I was watching T.V the other night and the show mentioned Columbia County, but it was not ours in the Hudson Valley. It made me start to wonder, how many other areas across the country also have a Columbia County? The county was reportedly founded in 1786, so maybe it started a trend.

Columbia County, Florida:

It seems like there is always a duplicate of a town name or county somewhere in Florida. Columbia County, Florida was formed in 1832 and it was known for its agriculture and timber industry. Specifically, the products they are known for are turpentine, lumber, and plywood. Interesting.

Columbia County, Arkansas:

Columbia County, Arkansas was named after Christopher Columbus and was formed in 1852. It's also home to one of the biggest Bromine reserves in the United States. What's Bromine? Well, Bromine is a chemical that is commonly used in flame retardants. It's definitely a different kind of thing to be known for, but hey whatever gets people talking.

Columbia County, Washington:

Columbia County, Washington was created out of Walla Walla, County (try saying that a few times without laughing). The county was named after the Columbia River and it's known as one of the most conservative counties in Washington State. There are also a ton of historical places to check out like Bank of Starbuck, Mill House, Jacob Weinhard House, and more. Sounds fun.
