Hiking can be one of the most rewarding ways to spend time in Upstate New York. It's the perfect way to get outside and get some fresh air as well as see amazing sights the Hudson Valley has to offer. There are plenty of them in this region.

Hitting the local hiking trails could be a great way to get some exercise. They could also be fun for recreation. Some of the trails could be challenging. If you're not prepared then these trails can be dangerous. There's a chance you could get lost, injured or even worse.

I'm not an experienced hiker and I learned a pretty lesson the hard way this week.

I had my own scary moment after dark on a local hiking trail.
