One school district in the Hudson Valley is making the most of the fall season.

A lot of people love to enjoy delicious apples this time of year and there a plenty of beautiful orchards here in the Hudson Valley to enjoy them from. For the sixth time, a Hudson Valley School District held it's annual "crunch around the world" and it looks like the students had a really fun time being involved in it.

What school district held a very fun event that involved apples?

Ellenville Elementary School is part of the Ellenville Central School District and on October 10th they held their Big Apple Crunch. What exactly does that mean? LOL. So, the students, teachers and other faculty all head out to the athletic fields and ceremoniously bite into local and yummy apples. Sounds like a fun way to spend part of the day and it gets the students/faculty outside for a bit (thankfully it looks like they had a nice and sunny day).

What is significant about the Big Apple Crunch in Ellenville?

According to the Facebook post made by the Ellenville Central School District, the Big Apple Crunch is sponsored by  the FarmOn! Foundation, in partnership with New York State farmers, this coordinated effort is designed to inspire communities to support local farms and produce, as well as promote good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. What a fun way to get everyone involved, promote local farms and encourage everyone to eat healthy.

Where did they apples come from for the Big Apple Crunch in Ellenville?

You can't have an event involving apples without apples from right here in the Hudson Valley. The apples were supplied from Angry Orchard in Walden and from Crist Brothers Orchard in Walden. All of the apples involved look crisp and delicious, it's no surprise that everyone enjoyed eating them LOL. Again, it's a great way to also spotlight some local orchards in the area while encouraging families to visit them.

A big shoutout to the Ellenville Elementary School for hosting this unique event and we hope it continues on for years to come.
