The Hudson Valley is doubled-over with laughter after a video was taken in Middletown, NY of one of the most unbelievable creatures to ever have lived in the Hudson Valley.

Instead of looking like an actual member of the animal kingdom, the bird spotted in Orange County, NY moves like something straight out of a Disney movie. "This is the cutest, weirdest bird I’ve ever seen!!" said the caption alongside the local video. "I [have] never seen a bird like this!!" So what exactly were they looking at?

Hilarious Woodcock Spotted in Middletown. NY

The bird in question, which walks like it's dancing to Mambo #5 (below) is none other than the American woodcock. The small bird, which has a round body, stork-like legs, and a long, pointed beak, undulates its body with every step, giving off the vibe that they're grooving to a tune only they can hear.

What Makes the Woodcock So Special

While plenty of commenters knew the species of bird, everyone could bond over the fact that the woodcock is one in a million. "A common bird in New England. The best!", said one fan of the silly bird. "They’re testing for bugs in the ground. It’s adorable how they have no idea how cute they look just doing their little thing", said another.

All About the American Woodcock

The bird, which even the NYS DEC recognizes as far from ordinary, is described as having "a bill that looks too long for its body, and ears that are placed forward on the face". The woodcock "can eat its weight in worms each day" and has also been nicknamed "timberdoodle, bog sucker, mud bat, mud snipe, and Labrador twister." While they live in the southeast year-long, they generally only come to the northeast for breeding season.
