According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in US men and each year more than 30,000 men will die from this disease.

While it is true that the earlier you can catch any form of cancer, the better your chances of survival are, it is a fact with Prostate cancer. If this disease can be diagnosed early, the five year survival rate is almost 100%.

Mid-Hudson Regional Medical Center’s Redl Center for Cancer Care, at 19 Baker Ave., Suite 101 in Poughkeepsie is Stepping up for Blue and will hold two free prostate screenings for un-insured and under-insured men on Tuesday, September 14 from 1 until 4 and again on Tuesday, October 11 from 9 until noon.

If you are a man over 50, if you are 45 and are at high risk for developing prostate cancer, if you are an African-American with a father, brother or son who’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or you are 40 and are at a higher risk because a first-degree relative has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, then it is recommended that you get screened.  Reservations are required for either of these screenings and can be made by calling (845) 483-5997 for details.

One phone call could save your life, or the life of someone you love.
