A horrible story that could have a happy ending.

Tragedy struck a family in Walker Valley on Saturday. According to the Times Herald Record, the fire started at about 6:40 p.m. Saturday evening and destroyed a home on Bog Road.

Walker Valley Fire Chief David Grass told the Record that a mother and two children were in the single family home when the fire broke out and that they were able to safely evacuate before the fire department arrived.

As people of the Hudson Valley have shown time and time again, when something like this happens we step up and this time is no diffenrrt.

Ulster County legislator Craig Lopez told the Record that he has started an online fundraiser on behalf of the family on Gofundme. He also said that he doesn't know the family, but has been told that some members of the Greer family have been active in the fire department.
