Hudson Valley residents will notice something pretty crazy when they try to get gas over the next few days.

It's hard to believe that it's almost already Memorial Day weekend and Summer is quickly approaching (THANK GOD). A lot of people are going to be traveling soon whether it's by plane or car to get to their destinations. This time of year always gets the reputation that everything gets more expensive including gas and people are constantly discussing it.

This doesn't seem like the case this year....

Is gas expected to go up this year around Memorial Day?

Short answer for this is NOOOO. Phew.

According to officials, for the fourth consecutive week, the nation's average price of gasoline has decreased. This is fabulous news because some people do have say no to vacations or driving because of how high the prices can get.

Why are residents in New York noticing that gas prices are lower this year?

This isn't a huge surprise and I told you people have been passing on driving...the demand for gas across the United State allegedly hasn't been as high lately. The demand reportedly fell by 1.3% and that can make a pretty decent difference when it comes to pricing. Oil prices fluctuating also plays a big factor in the prices as well.

According to GasBuddy, the nation's average price of of gasoline decreased by 3.5 cents from a week ago. Also good news, the national average is down 12 cents from about.a month ago. That is some great news and something to smile about.

How was the gas price data figured out?

Officials at GasBuddy say, they were able to compile the data from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country. Glad they were able to get the data and really break down everything so it's easy for us to understand lol.

Now you won't feel guilty about going away this summer and you'll actually be saving some money.
