General Motors made a big announcement about the fate of an extremely popular car.

There are certain cars that you just see on the road everywhere and when you talk to people about vehicles they've owned, most have owned one of these at some point. It's safe to say those cars are usually the Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, and Chevy Malibu.

They are great cars for new drivers or even someone who wants a small sedan and something that's great to commute in.

General Motors recently made a big announcement about the Chevy Malibu and people are pretty shocked by it.

What did General Motors announce about the Chevy Malibu?

The Detroit-based automaker announced that they are going to stop making the vehicle because they want to focus more on electric vehicles. Sadly, the Chevy Malibu will be no more soon and it will be heading to the junkyard.

It's like like the end of an era.

It's pretty wild, the car was introduced back in 1964 and at one time was one of the highest-selling sedans in the automotive world.

How have sales for the Chevy Malibu been lately?

Sadly, the sales for the car started to decline and they just went downhill from there. According to officials, last year only 130,000 Malibus were sold and that's a sharp decline from years past. Sales did rise a little bit when the newly designed Malibu was released, but the sales were reportedly mostly to rental car companies.

When will production on the Chevy Malibu stop?

Officials say GM's Factory in Kansas City will stop production on the vehicle in November. The plant will reportedly get a $390 Million retooling to make a new version of the Chevy Bolt (a small electric car) and again will focus its efforts on electric vehicles.

Well on that note, we say a big farewell to the Chevy Malibu and know the car has served a lot of drivers well.

What does it look like in the General Motors Headquarters in Michigan?

I had the opportunity to go inside the General Motors Headquarters which is currently located in the GM RenCenter in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It's pretty amazing to see and it's so high-tech it almost doesn't seem real when you're there.

Here are some cool pictures from the inside:

It was a great welcome to a big, beautiful building. You can't help but stare at it when you're walking by in the downtown area.

Wouldn't you love to drive that car?

Oh yeah, another amazing car to add to the list. It was definitely an awesome time there and so cool to see all the cars.
