While many animal organizations across the state are focused on rescuing, rehabbing, and rehoming animals, there's another, less though of service: providing food for pets after they've been adopted.
SPCA Chapters in the Hudson Valley
One of the most helpful resources for Hudson Valley pet owners is their local chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Across numerous counties, the SPCA helps pets even after adoption.
Free Cat and Dog Food from the Columbia-Greene County SPCA
"Did you know that you can get free cat and dog food 7 days a week at our Free Pet Food Bank?", the Columbia-Greene County Humane Society/SPCA recently asked on Facebook (below). They're not the only SPCA to offer the benefit.
Free Cat and Dog Food from the Ulster County SPCA
Similar to the Free Pet Food Bank in Columbia and Greene Counties, the Ulster County SPCA offers something similar with their Community Pantry. The pantry is available to all families and does not require an income verification. Residents looking to donate to the pantry instead can do so here.

Where to Get Free Pet Food in Orange County, NY
Orange County, NY residents have several options when looking for help feeding their pets. Middletown-based organization Pets Alive has partnered with several area food banks to participate in their "Pet Chow Pantry" in both Montgomery and Middletown, NY.

Where to Get Free Pet Food in Dutchess County, NY
Dutchess County offers several resources as well. The Dutchess County SPCA offers a Community Pet Pantry at 241 Crum Elbow Road in Hyde Park, NY, and Safe Haven offers a Food Pantry for Pets in Fishkill, NY.
