They’re Baaack! The Green Goats of Rhinebeck Have Returned to Work at The Walkway Over The Hudson
The Goats are Baaack at The Walkway Over The Hudson
The clean up crew has arrived!
The New York State Bridge Authority teamed up once again with Green Goats, from Rhinebeck New York, to clear out the vegitation underneath The Walkway Over the Hudson.
In a statement shared on social media the New York State Bridge Authority writes "The Bridge Authority’s 4-legged landscaping crew has officially returned to the area beneath the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park to help clear invasive vegetation."
NYSBA explains that the goats can be seen lingering around the area beneath the Walkway Over the Hudson as they "help clear overgrown vegetation in an environmentally friendly way.'
They encourage the public to come watch the goats at work, but they ask you keep a safe distance. Not because the goats will get violent, but the goats "love poison ivy" and the oily from the poison ivy can transfer from the goats coats to the bystanders.
And, well, you wouldn't want that.
2 New Goats Join Hudson Valley Clean Up Crew in 2026
With the announcement of the return of the Green Goats, the New York State Bridge Authority shared that there are 2 new additions to the team.
According to the statement goats Brooklyn and Oats will be bringing their talents to The Walkway Over the Hudson. The statement explains that both Brooklyn and Oats "had never seen grass before arriving on-site" at the Walkway.
Incredible.
The 2 newbies have only enjoyed hay up until recently. Thankfully, one of the goats seem to enjoy the grass. The New York State Bridge Authority writes:
Brooklyn jumped right into the all-you-can-eat salad bar, while Oats lingered by the gate looking like someone had changed the menu without warning

And, of course, in the Hudson Valley where the goats have been utilized for many years around the Walkway Over the Hudson.
