Orange County Program Offers Free Transportation for Seniors

Orange County Launches GoGoGrandparent Ride Program

In a press release Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus and Orange County's Office of Aging announced the addition of a new transportation program.

It's called GoGoGrandparent and is a "new ride service designed for eligible Orange County residents aged 60 and older" according to the press release.

The statement goes on to explain how GoGoGrandparent works explaining that it will make "transportation easy for seniors by allowing them to schedule or request on-demand rides with just a simple phone call."

Adding:

Through this program, eligible seniors can enjoy a limited number of free round-trip rides for essential appointments and community activities, helping them stay active, connected, and independent.

As for the cost of the program, Orange County explains that The NYS Office for the Aging and the Orange County Office for the Aging will "cover 100% of the cost for a limited number of round-trip rides."

Who are the Orange County seniors eligible for the GoGoGrandparent program?

There are 4 requirements for eligibility. The press release states the following:

Must be 60 years or older
Must live in Orange County
Must have a cell phone
Individuals who receive Medicaid Medical Transportation are not eligible.

GoGoGrandparent rides can make trips to non-emergency medical appointments within Orange County, visits to loved ones in hospitals or nursing homes, Faith-based activities, community and social events, and Voting sites.

In 2003, a father-son business reality show hit the Discovery Channel. It was called American Chopper and it followed the custom motorcycle-building business of the Teutul family out of Newburgh, NY. Paul Sr. owned the shop with sons Paul Jr. and Mikey working in the business. There was a slew of cast and characters. The center of the show wasn't just the amazing custom motorcycles built for celebrities and others, it was the volatile relationship between Sr. and Jr. The show ran for 12 seasons before the two could no longer get along.
