PHOTOS: How Did This One Hudson Valley Spot Become So Haunted?
There's a very eerie and shocking story behind a popular Hudson Valley tourist location, are you brave enough to find out more? .
Oh boy, there are a lot of places that are allegedly haunted in the Hudson Valley. There are some pretty crazy stories from every county and it's only fitting that everyone is talking about haunted places this time of year.
I was pretty shocked to learn that there's a pretty eerie story behind one beautiful Hudson Valley spot....
What spot in Greene County, New York is allegedly haunted?
Captain's Inn Point Lookout which is located on 7604 Route 23 in East Windham was once a summer time snack bar/gift shop where people could come stay over and enjoy a nice meal. Sadly, the property has seen some tough times and explains why it might have some dark energy behind it. According to officials, there was a really bad fire that broke out and allegedly burned down the original structure, the business changed ownership many times and that's usually not a good thing. So the location was the start of a great idea, but it endured some pretty big bumps along the way.
According to people who have worked there, at some point a lady or "lady of the night" as she's referred to was allegedly murdered in Room 12. Here's where it's tricky, there's allegedly no record of this because the Town Hall had burned down around the time this happened. No police records were also allegedly found as well, hmmmm. Sources say, the story goes that the housekeep reportedly found the body of the deceased woman, but people are still confused why there's no record because the timing of everything burning down is questionable and many wonder if the alleged killer got rid of the body somehow.
According to sources, others believe that the property was previously on an Indian Burial Ground and when the property was built over it, a lot of bad energy was felt. Either way, it does seem like there's surely something going on....Eventually a couple purchased the run down building in the early 2000s and tried to restore it back to its original charm, but many people try to stay away from Room 12 as you can imagine...
What does Captain's Inn Point Lookout look like inside?
Oh it does give off a creepy vibe, but it also looks like a beautiful place (if that makes sense LOL).
Is it just me or does it still look a little spooky even with Christmas decorations up?
Okay that is CREEPY....Maybe Captain Wayne is harmless, but I would not want him looking at me during my dinner.
I have to admit it, the bar below does look pretty nice.
The dining area looks like something out of an old movie, I bet a lot people in the Hudson Valley have dined here at some point.
Okay, ready for it? Here's a picture of the infamous and allegedly haunted Room 12....
Do you notice anything creepy about it? The light (in the middle) of the picture does seem a little strange.
The Captain's Inn Point Lookout Facebook Page put up a post back in 2021saying that the restaurant inside was closing down. The post also mentioned that the Inn was for sale and that they were renting rooms still. Again, this was a few years back so details and listings could be different at this point in time.
We do believe we found the old listing for it (it looks very similar) and you can click here to see more. You can also click here for a much deeper look at Captain's Inn Point Lookout and take a virtual tour and ghost tour of the place. If you dare...
Captain's Inn Point Lookout has surely made an impact on the Hudson Valley and we hope to hear more about any future plans soon.
