New York State Police (NYSP) are asking the public for help finding a person in a surveillance photo... but it's not for the reason you might think.

Residents who follow the NYSP on social media are used to seeing photos posted by the agency, but the pictures are usually meant to help catch people suspected of crimes. This time, however, they shared footage of someone who should want to be found.

Another Blurry Photo from the NYSP

No matter if police are searching for alleged criminals or people they're trying to help (like this current subject), it seems like the quality of photos are always the same: bad. Nonetheless, police are trying to help reunite this blurry New Yorker with their cash (below).

Can You Help Reunite This Person with Their Missing Cash?

"The New York State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify this individual who lost money at King’s Wok Buffet", the NYSP recently posted on Facebook. They went on to explain how a good deed helped identify the "suspect".

Money Mystery in Malone, NY

The found money was turned over to state police, and surveillance footage seems to have been able to tie the money to the person seen on camera. How they were able to make that connection with such blurry footage remains a mystery, but that miracle was only part of the comment section.

"We can have 4k shots from space but no security camera is able to take a clear shot", joked one commenter. "Wait...let me put my glasses on. Oh, they are on", quipped another. Others were more focused on the positive: "Thank you to the honest person that found this. Nice to know there's still good people out there".
