Families across the Hudson Valley have begun planning summer and fall vacations. But what if you didn't have to go very far to get everything you're looking for? A historic New York town has been named by The Smithsonian as one of the best small town to visit in America for 2015.

Cooperstown, NY perhaps best known for the Baseball Hall of Fame lands in the #5 position. But there's a lot more going on, in addition to the Hall. You can make a stop at Brewery Ommegang to try out some of their delicious beers and maybe take in a concert. The Fenimore Art Museum is one of the country's premiere art institutions. The Glimmerglass Festival is an internationally acclaimed opera fest. There's hiking, shopping and top notch restaurants too. And while I'd most likely be devoting my time to baseball and brewery activities, it just goes to show there's something for everyone.

Here's the top five small towns to visit in 2015 via Smithsonianmag.com. For the rest of the top 20 visit their site.
