New York Police Asking for Help After Scary HV Hit-and-Run

A teenager was sent to the hospital after a late-night hit-and-run in Orange County, NY. Now, local and state police are looking for answers.

Authorities say that the 16-year-old was riding their bicycle sometime between 11:30 PM on September 11th and 1:30 AM on September 12th when the incident occurred. Authorities, including accident reconstruction specialists, are piecing the night back together.

In January 2024, Raymond E. Rattray was killed after being struck by a vehicle as he walked home from class. Two months later, authorities announced the arrest of Ty Kolbelt, who was charged with several crimes including Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Death.

Fatal Hit-and-Run on the New York State Thruway in Catskill, NY

More recently in Catskill, NY, a driver survived a one-car accident on the New York State Thruway that resulted in their vehicle catching on fire. After the driver survived the crash, authorities shared, they were fatally struck by a passing vehicle that left the scene.

Recent Hit-and-Run in Montgomery, NY

While the teenager struck in Montgomery, NY thankfully survived their injuries, authorities have turned to the public for help in locating the driver. Though information is limited, police say the victim was struck near the intersection of Route 52 & Bel Air Road (above).
