Hollywood may be coming to the Hudson Valley. There's a plan in the works to bring a film and television studio to Kingston, and it's being led by a famous Hollywood actress.

The Times Herald Record is reporting that Mary Stuart Masterson is interested in building the multimillion-dollar studio somewhere in the midtown or uptown area of Kingston. Masterson, who's best known for her roles in "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" says that the studio would be used for a combination of projects that would include the development of multimedia technology and the training for technical jobs inTV and film.

Currently, Ulster County is not included in state tax incentives that were created by Albany to promote the motion picture industry to invest in New York jobs. Masterson has teamed up with Ulster County Executive, Mike Hein to get this changed. There is already interest from AMC studios and the Sundance Channel who have also agreed to invest in the project.

We want to know what you think. Does this project sound like a good idea for the Hudson Valley? Would you like to see more film and television studios consider our area as a location for setting up shop?
