These Hudson Valley, New York Towns Are Hallmark Contenders
If you're anything like me, you're guilty of watching more than a few of those corny holiday movies this time of year (or during Christmas in July, maybe also when they start putting them on in October...) - Hallmark, Lifetime, sign me up for all of them.
There's no shortage of holiday-themed things to do in the area. Between the yearly visit to see Eggbert, a ride on the local Polar Express (and this year Metro North adding to the holiday train fun), or just driving around to take in some of the beautifully decorated homes and businesses, we're pretty lucky.
Does the Hudson Valley have any 'Hallmark' towns though?
What Makes A 'Hallmark' Town?
Without even giving a structured criteria for what it means to be a 'Hallmark' movie town, I think you know what i'm referring to...the quaint area, a general store, that one spot everyone goes to grab a bite where the staff knows everyone who walks through the door...the streets are meticulously decorated with holiday lights, trees are snow capped, the lighting of the town tree draws everyone out each year.
Bonus points if the town handyman also happens to be the nephew of the mayor, whose husband runs the general store and runs a B&B where they host rehearsals for Christmas caroling. Then there's the NYC-based PR person who is visiting on assignment and 'bumps' into the handyman while stumbling through the snow her heels and they live happily ever after...

Your Suggestions For Hudson Valley 'Hallmark' Towns
Naturally, we took it to you, the Hudson Valley, to find out your suggestions for must see towns, even streets that could fall into that cliche 'Hallmark' category.
Here's what you had to say:
Rhinebeck
Definitely one of the first that comes to my mind, too. Known as a picturesque historic village; plenty of adorable shops and unique eateries. Has been named USA Today’s Best Small Town for Shopping Winner 2022 & 2023. Just last weekend Rhinebeck hosted a 'sip and stroll' event - like something out of one of the Christmas movie scripts.
Millbrook
Another top choice, Millbrook is home to a number of big name celebrities, yet has that quaint village feel to it. Rich with history and fun traditions like their Parade of Lights.
Goshen
Another area known for their history, Goshen has the great architecture combined with the unique shops and eateries downtown that give it that Hallmark holiday feel, especially with a Holiday Pop Up Boutique as part of their holiday parade.
Do you remember when One December Night was filmed in Goshen?
