A Hudson Valley man who was involved in a fatal three-car crash is accused of crashing his car while driving intoxicated with two children in his car.

On Saturday around 1 p.m., New York State Police responded to Interstate 90 in the Town of East Greenbush for a reported three-car motor vehicle accident.

According to police, 23-year-old August Rice from Rexford, hit another car heading east on I-90 causing the second car to cross the median and travel into the westbound lanes where it was hit by a car driven by 41-year-old Rex Tucker-Moss from Poughquag.

The driver of the car that was hit in both lanes was killed, police say. The driver's name is being held until family members are notified.

It was determined at the scene that both Rice and Tucker-Moss were intoxicated, police say. Tucker-Moss was also driving while intoxicated with two young children, ages 10 and 7 in the car, officials say.

Both Rice and Tucker-Moss were charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. Tucker-Moss was additionally charged with aggravated DWI and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Rice was additionally charged with driving while impaired by drugs.

Both were sent to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail.
