Old Railroad Track Comes to Life with New Train Rides
It is no secret that the Hudson Valley is full of Railroad History, after all, we have tracks and trestles everywhere. Some still have train traffic, and others have been turned into amazing linear parks and walkways.
The Hudson Valley Has Made Old Rail Beds into Parks
The Walkway Over the Hudson State Park is a great example of giving an old railroad bridge a new life. Turned into a pedestrian walkway that opened in October of 2009, it now has over 600,000 visitors annually. They take in its views and walk the old railway trestle over the Hudson River. It also serves as a link for the area's extensive rail trail system.

All throughout Dutchess, Ulster Orange and Sullivan counties, you can walk along repurposed railbeds such as the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail that connect and take you to either end of the Hudson Valley. We also have part of old railbeds that have been restored so that they can be ride attractions for train enthusiasts of all ages.
Hudson Valley Railroad Rides on Old Railway Routes
Earlier this year, I told you about the Catskill Railroad reopening for 2025. There approximately 90-minute ride scheduled out of Kingston that is back up and running, is a fun outing for all ages.
Another Train that is back and ready to ride you down a historic line of tracks is the Delaware & Ulster Railroad. This rail ride leaves out of Arkville, New York, and takes you through the Catskill Mountains. It offers dining and other options to its riders.

Tri-State Railway Museum Opens in Port Jervis, New York
More rail history is also opening this week in Port Jervis, New York. The Tri-State Railway Preservation Museum is opening its museum car at 86 Pike Street. This is also the location of the Erie Turntable, which will also be a train fan favorite.
Here's to hoping you and your train-loving friends get to enjoy all of these attractions this year.
