Who used to own Caddam Hill in the Hudson Valley?
Actress Maude Adams (Maude Ewing Adams Kiskadden) was born in 1872 and she wan actress/stage designer who became well-known after her role in 'Peter Pan; or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up'. She began acting at a very young age and appeared in numerous Broadway productions like 'The Paymaster', 'Lord Chumley', 'A Midnight Bell' and many more. After having much success on Broadway, Maude worked with General Electric later on in life to improve stage lighting and make it even better.
Maude Adams is a pretty big deal because she was the first actress to play Peter Pan on Broadway. She also helped co-design the costume that she wore and helped set a new fashion trend with it and it was known as the "Peter Pan collar"
It sounds like Maude was a very interesting person who was very ahead of her time.
How is Maude Adams connected to the Hudson Valley?
Here's the Hudson Valley connection, Maude had a beautiful summer home in Tannersville, New York and it was commonly known as Caddam Hill. Tannersville is located in Greene County and it's a perfect spot for someone who is famous. You're still generally close to things, but you also get some extra peace and quite compared to other parts of the Hudson Valley. It's no surprise that someone who wanted to relax and really enjoy their summers would pick Tannersville.
Click here to check out Caddam Hill and all of the amazing things that come with it. There are 31 acres, a writer's retreat, wrap-around deck, media room, cozy bar, 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and more. It will cost you a decent amount of money, but I'm going to keep that out of here for now (we don't need that negativity).
